There appears to be a similar question already out there No sound on a realtek AC I’ve also tried this fix from the guide, with no luck. Email me about changes to this bug report. I can record but with a lot of static noise and glitches I’ve tried to update to the newest alsa drivers, but also no luck. As a result this bug is being closed.

I tryed grep hda and so on but there was only a very small output so I uploaded the full dmesg output. The sound in headphones is too loud and a bit deformed also.

I can record but with a lot of static noise and glitches I’ve ensured that my volume is up in alsamixer from this thread. Found a workaround on this blog: I just signed up to this forum to thank the dude that provided this solution I had this problem for a while, I’m glad that he helped me and others.

So it sounds like the saa module should be blacklisted for your sound card.
